SUSAN CAMPBELL BARTOLETTI is the award-winning author of ten books for children, including nonfiction photo-essays GROWING UP IN COAL COUNTRY and KIDS ON STRIKE! (Houghton Mifflin), novels NO MAN’S LAND: A YOUNG SOLDIER'S STORY (Blue Sky/Scholastic) and DEAR AMERICA: THE DIARY ANNETKA KAMINSKI, COAL MINER’S BRIDE (Scholastic), and picture books SILVER AT NIGHT (Crown) and DANCING WITH DZIADZIU (Harcourt Brace), A former eighth-grade English teacher, she now teaches writing at Binghamton University and is a visiting professor in the Hollins University Graduate Program in Children’s Literature.

Award-winning author LISA ROWE FRAUSTINO has published novels GRASS AND SKY and ASH: A NOVEL (Orchard) and picturebook BLIND SIGHT (Arthur Levine/Scholastic 2000). She has also edited and contributed to the short story collection DIRTY LAUNDRY: STORIES ABOUT FAMILY SECRETS (Viking).  She writes a column, “Dr. Lisa’s Class,” for ONCE UPON A TIME magazine, serves on the Phoenix Award Committee of the Children’s Literature Association, and teaches in the Hollins University Graduate Program in Children’s Literature.

Bartoletti and Fraustino, sometimes together and sometimes apart, have done a good deal of speaking to groups of students, educators, writers, librarians, and scholars, including presentations for the Pennsylvania State Librarians Association (PSLA), the International Reading Association (IRA), the Children's Literature Association (ChLA), the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), and numerous schools and colleges.
