Clients with Unpaid BillsMy editorial consulting business is PC Editorial Services. I include this information on The Purple Crayon for people who would like to hire me. Please read both this and my Rates and services page before contacting me (look at the bottom of this page for the contact link).
Generally, I schedule projects well ahead of time. Please contact me, with a description of your project, to find out when I can fit you in: I will schedule projects in the order I receive them.
At present, I have some time available in late July and mid- to late August available. Please contact me as soon as possible to get a place "in line."
I work in two distinct areas:
Children's books: My full-time job is as a children's book editor. As a freelancer, I have also worked as an editorial consultant for corporate and individual clients, in trade and educational publishing, evaluating, critiqueing, editing, rewriting, line-editing, fact-checking, or proofreading manuscripts and galleys. I have posted information about books I've edited, an information sheet about my rates and services, some testimonials, and a copy of my resume so that you can get to know me before contacting me.
If you are looking for an editor for a book for adults, I'm not your man, but you might consider Michael Garrett.
Conferences: I regularly travel across the country to give speeches (some of which have developed into materials on this site), lead workshops, and do manuscript critiques. In the past several years I have been to conferences in Alabama/Georgia, California, Illinois, Michigan, Nebraska, New England, New York, and Texas, among other places.
I am particularly interested in appearing at conferences in 2008 in order to promote the new edition of my The C.I Guide to Publishing Children's Books. I have created four new workshops, covering a range of topics and levels of experience. Please email me if you think I might be a useful addition to your conference faculty, and I will be happy to provide information about those workshops.
For more information, and to inquire about my interest in a project, please feel free to contact me.
